I just finished listening to Winnie's albums "Steel Wool" (1978) and "Cloud Dancing" (recorded 1981-1983). What an innovative player he was. We all know his book, the bible for steel players, but those who have never heard his albums are missing something, for sure.
I miss Winnie, his music and, most of all, his great personality.

"Cloud Dancing" is a duo effort by Winnie and guitarist Hank Davis, sort of a home recording (on a very high level), recorded between 1981 and 1983. Winnie on steel, Hank on guitars. Lots of different instrumentals, all led by steel, with guitar doing rhythm. Just the two of them...
