Derby Guitar

Post by Raymond White »

Danny ,do you know what year it is (0056),i have a SD 10 ,serial # is (0153),i called ,mr stepp a whil before he died ,and asked him what year it was,and his answer to me was,Idon;t Know ,i have made over (500)of them,i don;t know ,was pretty much the only answer i ever got from him not matter how small the question,so i just stopped calling him about any thing, from that point ,i would just ask someone else, that kind of response i got from him kinda broke my spirit about Derby Guitars,we all need from time to time a little info from the builder of our instruments,i still have the guitar and probably will keep it from now on,thanks,Ray Byron Ga.(steelmanplayer@yahoo.com)

Year Model

Post by Daniel J. Cormier »

Raymond
Don't know the year model. I just know it's a darn good guitar. Charlie was a little short sometimes, But he meant well, and was a darn good builder. All of the Derbys I have bought and sold where good guitars.

I don't know what's the big deal with S/N's and what year everything was built! Who cares that much? You buy things for what they are now, not for what/when they were! I'm sure builders have records of every steel they build, but; it would be very time consuming to look every one up! They don't necessarily keep copedent-records, but; they do keep S/N's and even Finishes and possibly original customers.
