I been thinking about taking a simple say three chord tune, I do those best. and moving it down an octave. I mean if the son is in "C" on the 8th frt starting on strings 345, start it on string 6 8 10. I know yous guys think "This guys a nut job", but I heard or saw some one play a tune on the lower octave a few days ago and I thought it was beautiful. Do any of you have a tune you do this way.

| Duane Eddy made a career of doing that on the fretted guitar. The only concern I can think of is, since you ask about a 3 string grip, is that it might sound a bit muddy, unless you use a thinner tone setting on the amp. Might be best to use just two strings. |

Calvin, I wasn't thinking of any thing particulary. I am not very advanced any three Chord song to start with. This is kinda a learning exercise/exploration. Yeah, rich. The 10 or in my case 12 string is a limiting factor so in some case one or two srting grips will be necessary. However, I have also thought of the possibility of maybe upgrade to a 14 string. Hey I'm a true American. Lets identify the problem nd throw money at the problem

Robert, if you aren't very advanced, you have all you will need for some time with 12 strings. You have range equivalent to guitar, so there's really no limit. Just open your ears, play in tune, and find what sounds good to you.
Then find the same thing, or something similar, on different strings up or down the neck. Have fun.

years ago i used to play Together Again on the 4th 6th and 8th strings,i think.I do remember using the 8th string.

Well, if you really want it to be more challenging, do it with fewer strings and fewer pedals, using bar slants, etc. |

Exactly Bob excellent work. I don't have a lotta love for the high string, well string 3. Also, anything over fret 12 for a very sustained period of time is not my cup of tea, I was on You Tube and heard a number done on the lower strings and it was excellent. Unfortunately, I did not think at the time I would ever need it and don't remeber who was doing the song or the title, but it made me think. On the Bard,long ago, in high school, I had an English teacher who loed the oold guy. She imparted some of her love not only for him but some of the other classics to me, a little. I haven't been fortunate enough to hae the oportunity to expand on this, but I do cherish the memory of that mean old biddy that nearly eeryone despised, but took an "F" student and taught him something. I could go on, but her thing was it did not matter, but that you participated. So using this I passed.Later in life I realized the real lesson. All, can participate and should be encourged to participate. OK enough

On the Bard,long ago, in high school, I had an English teacher who loed the oold guy. She imparted some of her love not only for him but some of the other classics to me, a little. I haven't been fortunate enough to hae the oportunity to expand on this, but I do cherish the memory of that mean old biddy that nearly eeryone despised, but took an "F" student and taught him something. b0b, Absolutely beautifull, love the bagpipe-ish part close to the end....WOW !!!!!!!!!Did you use your 12 string to get the low part?

Yes, both parts were played on a 12 string Sierra Session tuned to extended E9th. I played the melody part first, then added the chords underneath.
