From near the end of the first archives:

"Texas1: Unidentified pair of musicians (one with 1954 Fender Stratocaster)"

Surely that's Bobby Garrett on the right.

Yes John, and the guitarist is Leo jackson, both from Jim Reeves' band. I emailed this info to Deke just this morning. :)

Fender Amplifiers pretty much dominated as the Amp of choice back in those days. When did Peavy start replacing the Fenders. Probably after Leo sold out to CBS.

ScottyBettyBroyles: Betty Broyles (in glasses and hat) at a roadhouse in Texas

JimmyCNewman2: Jimmy C. Newman (in blue shirt) at a Texas roadhouse

Looks like Smokey Stover with the red tie and white
shirt in both of the above.

HankThompson4: Hank Thompson's band cuts loose, a wall of Standel amps behind them

Joe Carson singing the above?

^ I think the Hank Thompson band might actually be Billy Gray's band. Billy led his own group around the time the photo was taken, and he had a steel player who played a Fender pedal steel and looked just like the guy in the photo( don't know who it was ). I don't think Hank ever had a steel player who played a Fender except for Curley Chalker and that's not him. And yes, I think that could be Joe Carson on the mike.

Just the set of Link Wray photos makes this archive truly superb.
Loved seeing his Premier reverb box, just like the one I have, sitting on top of a Leslie cab, and from now on I'm pretending mine was his!

Well, this took me right back to the Surf Nantasket, outside Boston, where we and our dates saw--and met--Wray and his group. Gentlemen all!

Hey Frank, Jukka Tolonen was sentenced to jail for two years for stabbing his girlfriend with a knife. This happened in late 2006 and the trial for the case ended a year ago. Very sad thing, Jukka had just gotten back on the track and performing and recording again. My luthier friend had built him a beautiful Selmer Maccaferri style guitar that Jukka was very excited about. Apparently Jukka and his lady friend had gotten into an argument in the early morning hours and he lost his temper. The lady was not severly injured fortunately and Jukka might get paroled even during this year.
