A while back I was a little abrupt with an answer to Roger Rettig, and it has been bothering me. I should have taken a deep breath and written a more mature reply. Sorry Roger. |

Charles:
I THINK I know the thread to which you refer, although I'm not certain.
Please don't let it concern you. It's obviously fine for us all to disagree from time to time, and sometimes we don't express ourselves as we'd like to. I've done it myself where I've been unable to resist adding a dash of sarcasm to a response - and we all know what sarcasm is, don't we...?
I've developed a fairly thick-skin here on this Forum, but sometimes it lets me down and, before I know it, I've typed something I later regret.
Thank you for bringing it up - everything is fine. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

I agree with Calvin. It seems to me that recent interactions on the Forum have revealed shorter fuses and a little less tolerance. I see a similar trend in my work, and I suspect it reflects economic woes, and a lot of stresses in everyone's day to day existence. It's nice to see someone try to mend fences, and I think a lot of people (including me!!) could benefit from this example.
Thanks, Charles

I should have added that I edited one of my less-than-courteous responses, and wrote an apology, this morning.
I feel better now.

The problem with the internet - emails and forums - is that often things come across very differently to the way that they are intended. It is very easy to take offence and to cause it.
This is a nice touch from Charles. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Telonics TCA-500, Webb 614-E, |

I'm glad to see people recognize and apologize for their failings. The world has been quite cruel lately. Lots of folks with money worries, and a political season that was hideously bitter, and hasn't let up since the elections.
The media thrives on playing up our differences and urging antagonism rather than understanding. It's all about selling commercials, not serving the public. And that ugliness can spill over into our discussions.
But there is a lot of good here on the Forum. The joy of the music, and the helpful information. You are good people. We just slip now and then. |
