Where can I get music theory information/instruction that applies to PSG. I'm not interseted in German, French, Italian music terminology and history. Or minuets and cadences unless George or Merle does'em
Any help will be appreciated.

An "Introductory Theory For Steel Guitar" DVD by Mike McGee is availble from the good folks at:

I have that DVD and it is well done and easy to understand IMHO.

I believe Mike Perlowin wrote a book published by Mel Bay called something like "Music Theory for the Real World" and he regularly offers to email a free pedal steel supplement to anyone who wants it.

Hey guys, thanks for the heads up on my book.
There are any number of good books out there, and they all have the same information. The only differences are how that information is presented.
My books starts at the very beginning, and proceeds in logical order to get progressively more advanced. Each lesson expands on the previous one. I tried to present the material in a way that makes it easy to understand.
The book, which is published by Mel Bay Publications, is a general music theory book, and is not specifically about any single instrument. For that reason, I wrote a supplement for the steel guitar with a few tabbed out examples of things I wrote in the book, and an explanation of how the concepts in the book relate to the E9 pedals.
The supplement also contains a section on how to read music on the E9 neck.
I will e-mail the supplement for free to anybody who requests it.
The name of the book is "Music Theory In The Real World; A Practical Guide For Today's musicians." It can be purchased or ordered at any store that sells Mel Bay books, but I think we should support our own venders like Jim Palenscar and Scotty (both of whom carry it in their stores.)

Traditional musical theory is valid for any musical
instrument or voice ; You COULD publish a
collection of arrangements specifically for Steel
Guitar,but without the theory they´d be of little use.

Thanks for sending the supplement, Mike. As I stated before, I am very short on music theory and every little bit helps. I have only my humble beginnings as a bluegrass musician, general laziness and an extreme bent to the highly experimental side, a la Jerry Garcia, to blame. I probably should buy the book too. Maybe your supplied supplement will make the nut and turn the tide toward me becoming a "serious musician".

Well considering that the supplement is pretty much useless without the book....
besides, I make almost a whole dollar for every copy sold, and I desperately need the money.
