Lloyd Green/Tommy White Video

Post by Tommy White »

Hi Guys,
While we both are appreciative of the revived interest shown in our video "An Evening of E9th", Lloyd and I would appreciate it if no more songs are posted to YouTube other than the one now showing.
We jointly own the VHS master tape and are currently exploring the possibility of reissuing this music concert video in DVD format. We will keep you up to date as this develops.
Thanks from both of us.

Tommy

It might be worth sounding out how many folks on this Forum would be interested in purchasing a DVD of the show, which I have to say has some wonderful sequences - the sound mix is very good. It could be a commercial proposition for you and Lloyd, provided obviously that the demand is there.

I hope that people will take heed to you request above to observe the copyright of the recording.

Please count me as one who will, guaranteed, purchase a DVD if you make it available, regardless of price!!! There must be a lot of others, too!

(I'm late to the party--didn't know about this till now!)

I'll buy it on DVD.... My VHS player went kaplooie 3 years ago. I gave away my VHS music collection not soon after.

While were on the subject, how about "An Evening Of E9th II" in HD?

Shoot it at the Ryman, throw in a couple Opry Legends like Charlie Pride, Gene Watson and Connie Smith, Now ya got something to appeal to the masses as well as us steel pickers. Since it was my idea, I will require 15%. HA! Just kidding...... Just take me with ya to the "Grammy's".

Tommy,

I was working the door that night for Nick during about half of the taping and missed a lot of that performance, when it became available on VHS I jumped right on it and am glad I did. I play it a lot and the day will come when I just plain wear it out. Besides being enjoyable to watch, it is also a great learning tool, for guys like myself anyway.

I'm not sure if you and Lloyd fully realize the impact that video had on the steel community. It has become like the "Holy Grail" of PSG kind of thing. Great playing, and some very interesting and informative comments by the two of you.

I have been asked many times for the loan of the tape, that is not going to happen for obvious reasons.

If this becomes available on DVD I wil be at the head of the line!

My best to both of you.

I am the one that posted that youtube clip and after reading this post I e-mailed Tommy and asked him if he and Lloyd wanted me to take this clip down.
He answered me back this morning saying that they are ok with it.

I should have asked them first about that but in all the excitement when the other post opened it did even not cross my mind.

John is right about the Holy Grail thingy. This video helped me out more then these two masters can imagine.
If they will release this on DVD they will be sold out again within no-time.

Thanks Tommy and thanks also for the email! You are an awesome person and friend!

When it is re-released, Ron can modify the comments in his YouTube posting, adding purchase info.

YouTube is a good marketing tool.
I know that from experience with the Mooney/Brisco DVD.

Done....I took out the comments that don't belong there.I was PO-ed at the guy that tried to have my privileges taken away.
I don't know who it was and I don't really care.I posted this clip on youtube for people to see.
Now that the ok is given to have it up there it will stay up there.

Thanks for the reminder Joey,

If you're getting some feedback on who would buy the DVD, count me in also. I bought the VHS and play it on my big screen. It sounds and feels like you are right there with these icons in your house. I was mesmerized while watching Tommy's right hand. Lots of close ups and beautiful stereo on this performance. Just two steels, rhythm guitar, bass and drums.

Ron,

I'll bet my copy is easily about ten feet longer than it was when I got it LMAO! I have played it, stopped it, backed it up, etc., that many times! I will get 2 this time so I have a back up copy!

I'd buy a DVD of Lloyd and Tommy in a second! They are my two favorites and I could listen to either one play steel all day long, let alone both of them picking together!
