Tony,
The format for individuals will be the same as always - sign-up, bring a CD, or sometimes we can arrange to play with the band. We usually have time for each player to play 3 to 5 songs (depends on the number of players). We try our best - "first-come-first-served", but sometimes we have time restraints and will ask permission of a player if it is OK if we can switch his order. We will do everything possible so that everyone (regardless of skill level) gets a chance to perform.
I hope you can make it. I always enjoy your style of playing and you always pick songs that are not the "normal" steel songs picked.
Any questions let me or ER know!

Hi Glen, what does Steels with the band mean ? Is that like Saluda, do we sign up for a set with the band or is that already pre-destined ?

Thanks, see you there

Tony, "Steels With the Band" will be about 3 hours (usually 3 sets of about 50 minutes) where we have 3 or 4 steelers play with the band in rotation. The first steeler will pick a song, do his round, pass it onto the next steeler, etc until it cones back to the first steeler, who will then close out the song. The second steeler will then pick and a song for another round. If any steeler desires, he can "pass" that round if he doesn't feel comfortable with the song.
People are always encouraged to dance.
ER or myself will sign up players and assign them sets before we begin the play with the band. We are always flexible if a steeler has a preference as to the set he would like to play in.
Hope this answers your question - always a good time for all and we do try our best to accomodate all who want to play. We usually find that the more experienced players sign up for this session. That is the reason we try to have steelers of any experience participate in the indidual or Round Robin.

Hi Glenn just want to let you know that I just sent in my new membership to Russ Kerns.I'm getting things ready so I will be able to come to the MASGA Steel Guitar Jams. I guess we won't be able to make Kannapolis this time as we have not sold our home here as of yet. We do have a couple of couples that are interested and open house this Sunday.Hope to see you all soon maybe at the Ice house in Selma.

Hi Glenn I was with Manny Escobar today at the R.I. CMA 35TH Country Awards Show.He is a Good Guy and if he has his Steel with him check it out good. You have never seen a Steel Guitar with a curved Fret Board. It is curved from the 12 String to the 1St string. It is all solid wood including the Neck. It has a great sound and the pedals are Piano Pedals and MSA parts on the under carriage.Hey it works and is one of the best sounding Steels you ever want to hear.If he has it with him make him play it for you. He is quite a guy.

Just confirmed that Kevin Robbins (MASGA Vice President & Revelation Ministries) will again have his complete Bose PA & monitor system set-up. This system is hard to beat and Kevin knows how to adjust it. Hope to see you there!!

Clyde, so sorry to hear you're not going to be with us in Kannapolis this weekend. Your are one of my favorite pickers and always enjoy jammin' with you whenever we have the chance.

Also, I am anxious to see which steel Allen H. shows up with. (That guy changes guitars like I change..............never mind!)

Looking forward to seeing all my friends from the MASGA at the show. Donna and I still talk about how much fun we had the last time we were there a few years back. Should be lots of fun, food, visiting and great pickin'. Hope to see you there.

Almost time to play!

Post by Allen Howington »

Okay guys & gals, time to kit the hay so we can get up real early in the morning and drive to Kannapolis. Looking forward to seeing and hearing all my buddies. PS: Tommy, the color for tomorrow is going to be "Holly Red". If I could sound like you I would play a "PINK" one. Can't wait to hear you play tomorrow.
