I gotta pitch in here Walter...Jagwires are the best I have found and Danny was kind enough to "turn me on to them" about a year ago. I was talking with Walter last week and I now gotta try the 11 1/2 guage for my third. Also Walter Haynes has finally agreed to start doing some more steel shows and I personally look forward to that. It is long overdue. I will be making a new announcement soon about Walter Haynes. If it's ok I got to chime in too. I used SIT's for a long time, but tried a set of Jagwires when I went to St Louis. I am hooked they are wonderful strings. No wonder evrybody is switching. I would sure like to get one of those Jagwire decals though.

Well I will have to agree with Ray Walker the Jag Wire strings are great. I got two sets from Herbie Wallace about a year and a half ago and I got two more sets when he was at the Tri City Steel Show.I put the second set I got a year and a half ago on about a month ago so I still have the last two sets that I bought.I had been using Cobra Coils and I like them too. I have no problem with the 3rd string on either brand.That is just my opinion someone eles may have theirs also.

I called Danny needing strings from Madison WI a couple of years ago while out on one of Lyle's summer tours. They were delivered to me the next day!! There customer service is tremendous and you simply won't find a better string!!

I bought some "Tommy White" Jagwires and your right they are great...But I got them from b0b and it helps the Forum too.

Not that it matters to anyone but I have been using 11 1/2 3rd. strings a long time. To me, it's the only way to go

I like a .12 on the third string. A fuller sound and the Jagwire .12 that is on my LeGrande now has been there for two months, and that's playing every day. I think its time to change it though, it's starting to lose it's brightness. I haven't broken a string since I started using Jagwires, and I love the sound.

Danny contacted me a year or so ago...and wondered If I would like to try some Jagwire strings....I said: "Danny I'm already endorsed by Ernie Ball and have all the strings I need"....>Danny said: "Well just try these, I think you'll like them".
So ok send me some.
I put them on and immediately I noticed that the same guages I used were now pulling a little Sharp and alot sharp on the wounds....WOW>....so that equals...>Less tension to pull to pitch and that Equals the most quality string I've ever used and will last longer when it takes less tension to pull the same guage to the same pitch as other strings made.
So I'm sold....I want them....and I want'um NOW>...ha...So Danny hooked me up with my own Guages that cater to the 24" scale Pedal steel....and now the Jagwires go on all my steels and all the steels I work on for others.....Best strings; Best service; and the best business the steel guitar industry can have>Jagwire Strings....>.Danny; you'da MAN!!!

After trying just about every string brand out there, I've used Jagwire strings exclusively for several years now. As I have stated on this forum a number of times, IMHO they are definitely the best strings you can put on a steel guitar. Not only that, but they are the best strings I've ever used on electric 6-string guitar as well. Ricky said it right: best strings, best (incredible) service, and the best kind of guy running the company, my friend Danny Hullihen. Top notch all the way.

yep, It's the best string by far in 30 yrs of playing. Been using them now for almost a year and will not ever try anything different unless Danny makes it. Not only does he make the best string ever, he stands behind what he sells more than 100%.
It's a great company to deal with no matter where you buy them. The only string I've broken is a .017. Strange but true. Slapped another one on and tagged the song in tune. I really don't care for decals on anything but I got a Jagwire decal on the FRONT of my Emmons. Just My nickle's worth.

I have been using "Tommy White" sets...How sould sets designed for 24" scale differ?

Jack, Glad you asked.
Well when you have a shorter scale like a 24" scale as opposed to 24 1/4" or 24 1/2 or more; and the steel is tuned to the same E9th notes. Having a little more tension on some of the strings will help in the sustain of the shorter scale. Also all the older Sho~Buds and some others; had limited raise and lower positions on the pullers and fingers.....so string guaging is very important to get the unison strings to pull together as closely as possible....and the guages I've designed in my "Ricky Davis Artist Series" from Jagwire; are from years and years of experimenting with different guages to get the strings to react together and sustain the best possible for the 24" scale.
Hope that answers your question and here's the E9th example of the guages I use.

one of the smartest things i've done in years was emailing danny at jagwire a couple of months ago. he was incredibly quick with a helpful reply and i had a set on my guitar within a few days. since then i don't want to play any other brand of string but jagwire.
these strings sound and play wonderful and they stay sounding great way longer than any other brand i've picked. i don't think i've broken one yet, either.
i'm proud to play em and highly recommend them to all steel players.
i haven't been a decal kind of guy since my late teens (my pack a seat was covered with them!) but i proudly display the jagwire logo on both my Zums. keep up the good work danny.

I have been using Jags since the company started.My friend Ricky Davis may have a point. However, the gauges in the Tommy White set were designed to work great on both the 24" scale and longer.I use them on my Sho-Bud, Carter and Fessenden guitars. I have in the past used those same gauged strings on a Sierra, Mullen and Derby with no problems.The gauges of my set were arrived at while playing a 24"scale Sho-Bud years ago, if that helps any. Which ever Jagwire set you choose, I'm sure they will achieve excellent results as they are great strings.

I think I'll try a set of Ricky's and see if I notice any difference.
Jagwire makes GREAT strings whatever the guages. IMHO
