Anyone ever test drive these amps or know anyone who did? Nice little amp. 1/4 watt is all tube, the increased watt ones have a power soak. |

I bought one, at the NAMM show when they were first being made. Had to be around a decade, or so, ago. Their main functon , at that time, was over-driven sounds, which it does very well. Mine is a bit noisy, but all in all, it's a nice little amp. |

Tris makes a model called the super 50 which has 50 watts (duh) and a much cleaner power section. works very well for steel. Same size and weight. |

Jan,
How do you like the Super 50? Would that be good for lap steel/standard guitar too? From what I gather, he also does the "cleaner" power section in his 1/4 watt version too.
Any other pros/cons about the amp that you would care to mention? |

and if you switch the pre amp tube btween ax7 and au7 you can get even cleaner sound. It works fine with lap and guitar. |

No, but I did change mine for an Eminence ProAudio speaker...just because I could and some other guys raved about it. I found it to be a great $20.00 investment. The new speaker has a larger magnet.that's about all I know about it except it made the high end clearer. By the way there's a speaker out to drive anything you want, with or without the internal speaker. Guys run 4 10's no problem.
It has a quirky effects in (tip and 2 rings plug)but for 19 bucks you can get a thing that acts like a hotplate but also allows you to use regular stomp pedals through the effect send-return. Without it, you have to use pro-audio effects (or go inline into the guitar input).
You can run headphones through one of the outputs.
I put my NV112 away since I've been focusing on lap and electric ukulele--yeah, odd but fun) and the songworks amp does everything I need it to do. If I decide to pick at my Carter D10, I can still use the Super 50. |
