Haywood Henson's show in Lakekand, Florida the past two days was something to behold. Haywood joined the Forum just a few days ago but hasn't received his password yet -- so he and Dee asked me to post a note thanking all of the musicians and fans who made the show such a great success. The facilities at the Sheritan Hotel were wonderful and the room sounded like it had been designed acoustically for steel guitar performances. The special buffets served by the hotel were great and allowed us to eat whthout missing a minute of the show. The steel guitar performances by Doug Jernigan, John Hughey and Joe Wright were outstanding and the solid traditional country music by the Whittiker family set the whole affair in motion with their tight arrangements and beautiful vocal renditions. Haywood said he was so pleased with the entire affair that he had already started planning with the hotel management to have the show next year at the same place.
A personal remark from me: The backup band was as tight as I have seen; they never missed a single chord or ending, even though they were unfamiliar with most of the arrangements. And I finally got a chance to meet two Nashville legends, guitarist Royce Morgan dnd Bassist Pat Coyne. Pat is the guy who connected me with my long-lost friend Hank Garland several months ago.
This one will be a regular on my calendar from now on. Thanks, OnDeeAir Productions, for a wonderful weekend. |

Al:
I didn't see Bud there, but he comes to our monthly jams at the Florida Steel Guitar Club at Lake Panasoffkee quite often. Bud is a great guy, and not near as ugly as you and me. |

Congratulations to Heywood and the Shriners for a great show!I could only attend Sunday but it was a fine production. The Whittaker family was very impressive and professional. Dan Sr told me they don't even play together regularly but they sounded like they rehearsed for weeks!! I can't wait for next year! |

Legend??? The only thing I am legendary for is constructing train wrecks and log jams!!! Roy Ayers....now there is a gentleman and a LEGEND. The whole trip was worth getting a picture together and the privlege of calling him a friend. Thanks to Haywood, DeeAire and the Shriners for making us all feel like family. |
