I have a GoldTone Weissenborn SM model and I'd like to try C6 tuning on it.
For C6 tuning,I usually use gauges: .036,.030,.026,.022,.017,.014.
Would these gauges and C6 tuning damage the Weissenborn?

I would suggest contacting the manufacturer. The Superior Weissenborne people say that C6 tuning will not harm their guitars. If I understand correctly from a previous thread of this type, the Bear Creek people suggest extra bracing for a C6 tuning. FWIW, I used C6 on a Gold Tone Weisse for a couple of years with no ill effects.

Here's what I use for lowbass G (and D):
D - 013
B - 017
G - 026
D - 036
G - 046
D - 056
When I compare that to your gauges for C6....
E - 014
C - 017
A - 022
G - 026
E - 030
C - 036
...I can't see any reason to worry at all, in fact it looks to me like the C6 would put a little less tension on the top/bridge.

My weiss is a Lazy River, but I prefer lighter gauges than many (most?) other players, it's not unusual to use 015/016 and 018 for the top two strings for D and G tunings.

You can use a regular set of resophonic G-tuning strings and then tune down to A6th (equivalent intervals to C6th). Works great.
G tuning down to A6 .....
1 D C#
2 B A
3 G F#
4 D E
5 B C#
6 G A |

Sure about that Andy? 
Don't most regular reso-G sets have a (approx) 036, 046 and 056 for the three low strings? That's quite a tension for and E, C# and A in your A6 tuning,- actually a whole step above the standard highbass-G tuning.

| Well, stupidity on my part is always an option, Steinar. Hmmmmm ...I haven't done this for a few years but now that I think about it, it was always on a 22.5" scale instrument rather that a longer scale weissenborn. |
