Every time I listen to John Hughey, he makes my heart melt. No other steel player evokes that kind of emotion in me, although Ronnie Miller came close when he did his tribute to John in Dallas last week.
There is now doubt whatsoever that Paul Franklin is an outstanding steel player. But John can grab the heart like no other.

I'm not that familiar with John Hughey, but after watching both clips, I'd say you've pretty much nailed it, Chris.Chris LeDrew wrote:Every time I listen to John Hughey, he makes my heart melt. What you mean listen to Jamie Lennon ?James Kerr wrote:Alan & Others,
My comment was not intended to draw comparison between Mr. Franklin & Mr. Hughey, or anyone else for that matter. I just said there is too much adoration for Mr. Franklin's ability.
Given the choice, I would rather listen to Jamie Lennon.
James.
Go on myspace and listen to me then.

Im with you Jamie, Paul Franklin is amazing. I have heard songs where he comes in for one or two small parts and it just makes the song.I hope I get to hear him live someday.
I dont think its right or fair to compare players that have different feel and touch.
