Vista has a 'Sidebar' where one can attach 'Gadgets' to it such as clock, calendar, etc. One may also de-attach these gadgets from the Sidebar and place them wherever one wishes on the desktop making them independent of the Sidebar.
The rhetorical question I have here is, "Why the Sidebar at all?". Vista, indeed Windows in general needs to be simplified to begin with. Why then would ยต-Soft compound this memory-bloated software called 'Windows' by adding a useless Sidebar? 'Gadgets' could be added without the additional software required to develop and run this Sidebar.
Oh well, I'm not going to lose sleep over it--memory is cheap. I'm just thinking out loud. |

Leroy:
The moment I saw the sidebar, I had no idea what it was, but I knew I wanted nothing to do with it.
You can get rid of it easily. Right click on the sidebar, click properties and uncheck the start sidebar when windows starts option.
Or just go into your control panel and open the "windows sidebar properties". Uncheck "start sidebar when windows opens".
I have no idea why Microsoft insists on stuff like this. |

They're trying to match Apple's OS X feature for feature, while hanging on to their own old stuff at the same time. The result is too much crap on the desktop. _________________ -๐๐๐- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |
