Walker StereoSteel Aux Inputs

Is anyone using the Aux input on this rig? I have tried an MP3 player and also a laptop computer but the volume I get through the speakers is nowhere near what it would needs to be to play along with; too much of a difference between that and the steel. I tried cranking the volume way up on both the MP3 player and also the laptop AND also on the aux input level on the steel. The laptop was a little better than the MP3 but still not close to being workable. GD has been great support in helping me get my rig up and going but he hasn't heard of this issue so I thought I would try here. Thanks.

It is my understanding that the aux. inputs are for running an additional preamp in the system thereby just utlizing the power amp. (I use a second 3 channel preamp with my Walker as I double on other instruments (6 string guitar, electric banjo, and harmonica)and with the separate preamp can EQ each instrument/mic without disturbing the settings on my steel....My guess would be that the output signal on the MP3 and laptop are not strong enough. You may want to try going through a small mic preamp first (around $25.00 from Musician's Friend) to boost the signal...Best of luck and hope this information proves helpful

Try to isolate the problem.
Anything you plug into the normal input on the front should be of a similar volume when plugged into the Aux in's.
It may be the pot for your Aux Volume. I have one that has a big dead spot between approx 6-8. I have to leave the Aux Volume knob on 10 for it to function correctly.
I'll probably send it to Gerry one of these days.
I use the Aux in's for an Alembic F2B stereo pre amp for guitar, and run Steel through the main input.

When I used a G.D.Walker S.S. Pre-Amp., I plugged my ordinary Radio Shack Stereo Cassette-Tape Player into the ANX. Input to play along with my own pre-recorded Rhythm-Tracks and had no problem with volume control at all, in public places! The problem seems to be with your S.S.Amp.!
