Thanks, James, for the appreciative words. And to answer your question, I am indeed descended, on my mother's side, from the Barra Macneils, by way of Nova Scotia and Gloucester, Mass. I sometimes think an island heritage--my father's family came from the Azores -- explains my abiding love for shoreline places and my desire to explore them in sound and image.
