I just heard that Hank Locklin passed on Sunday the 8th. He was one of Alabama's best. RIP Mr. Locklin.

I sang his songs with my family growing up and still sing some of his song today! May his family find comfort from our loving Savior. Another icon gone. May God Bless Them all. Laurie

This is indeed sad news. I worked with Hank in the early days of his career. One of the nicest guys in the business.. RIP old friend, and may GOD bless, comfort, and keep his family always, Jody.

i always thought it was cool that hank was from my hometown of brewton al. and to have been such a well known writer and singer, cool. condolences to the family.

I always liked Hanks words when he was asked about being such a prolific songwriter. Showing his belief in God being the author and finisher, he would say, "I don't write em. I just write em down."

Jody, all of us that were in the Houston area in the late 1940's early 50's share some great memories of being around Hank especially the nicknames; "SLEEPY BOB" used to call him during his days around the old KLEE radio station, ha. R.I.P old friend

Strangely, I'd been humming Hank Locklin numbers all day when my colleague at work told me that he'd passed away. I don't know whether that means I'm psychic, or there are vibes out there that we don't know about.

As a kid, in England, I bought a lot of Hank Locklin LPs. He's always been a great favorite over there.

It's sad that he passed on. I'm just glad that he had a good inning.

I met Hank at an NCO Club in England years ago, the Locklins lived down the road from my in-laws outside of Brewton. I remember his mother. Just, IMO, wonderful people. I couldn't get Dave Hartley's tab of "Send Me The Pillow That You Dream On", quick enough. RIP Hank. I believe that he had the title, "Ambassador Of Brewton"

I sent Hank Locklin an e-mail message about 5 years ago
telling him what a huge fan my older brother was of his music and how he would sit with his ear to the radio and listen to his songs, etc. Hank wrote back, "I'd love to talk to that fan of mine, your brother, by phone". Give me his number and when he will be home and I will call him". "That will surprise him" I did give him his number and Hank called and talked to him for close to an hour. My brother called me and said, "You won't believe who just called me"! Hank just told him another fan gave him your number. I told him it was me.
That was a very kind thing Hank did for my brother and we won't ever forget it. (P.S. Hank could tell some stories about the older days of country music. Great stuff!)

I'm sad at his loss to the world and happy that he's now singing with the rest of the past legends. One of a kind, and a gentleman and friend.

The memory of him paying me a "Penny" to produce an album of his will always make me smile.

Way back many years ago I was offered the job of playing steel for Hank at the Peterborough country music festival. I turned it down because the promoter a Mr.Jed Ford would not pay me a penny for my services this presented me with a dilemma as I was a fan of Hank and had purchased his records but I also had another gig offered on that day that paid me £50 (well it was a long time ago)I took the job that put food on the table but still have mixed feelings about what I missed...... Don`t some of those promoters make you p.....!
