Tra's country.

If she is looking for just dancing type clubs she can try the Midnight Rodeo, no band.

Also Cowboy's has a band with a fiddle player but no steel, the band typically plays more modern type country but also plays some of the older George Strait etc. Caters to the younger crowd. A lot of the recorded music they play is from the 70's and 80's.

Tell her check out Tra's Country. It's on O'Connor in northern San Antonio. Here's a link to the website. They mostly book Traditional Country so the steel guitar is a given in most cases. http://www.trascountry.com/tras_country_008.htm

As an old retired AF Drill Instructor and aware of a few Honky Tonks in Texas. There is a small town just outside San Antonio toward Bandera, in fact tell her to go out Bandera Rd., Flores country store used to be that way, Lone Star Inn, and in Helotes is a couple of places, then on into Bandera not that far country music abounds. The old stuff when they called country and it was. They do play also, what is called country.
Was hoping I would get to meet some of you this weekend in Dallas.

Tell your daughter I don't know her but am very proud of her. Aim High.....Air Force

Hey Chris, Tell your daughter to check out Martinez Social Club in East Bexar Co. They have dance every Wed. at 7:30 P.M. and Sunday starting at 3:00 P.M. We have great bands like Bobby Flores and Billy Mata and I can't think of a single band that does not have a steel player and most have a fiddle or two. Also, Braun Hall in N.W. San Antonio has one or two Sat. nite dances every month with the same type of traditional music. Have her check The Weekender in the S.A. Express News. They provide a great club listing of all kinds of music. Also, tell I said "Thank you for your service".

I play Tra's Country frequently. Be sure to get your inoculations for honkytonkitis before patronizing the place.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

If you can find it The Cibilo Smokehouse, which also has a rodeo is just starting up it's new schedule. We are playing there on the 21 March.
It is in Bulverde, just South of San Antonio. I'd give directions . but i've got lost going there at least twice. The adress should be on the Lucky Tubb myspace page .Great fun open stage, campfires cowboys and barbeque plates. They even have a mechaical bucking Steer.
