Anybody ever try a Weber 6A80 tube amp head for steel?

You understand, right?, that if properly built it will be a Dual Showman Reverb. I don't believe it attempts to be anything other than an exact clone (unless I'm mistaken).
I'm not stating this as any sort of negative. If I had the chops I'd be tempted.

Dual showman reverb...so what could be bad?

I don't have the chops to build one...no way, but my bro is an EE and lifelong audiophile/tech, and one of the best Mac restorers in the world, so I'm hoping he can handle it.

I bought the 6A80 chassis kit from Ted, but am using an AB763 turret board and MM and Fender transformers for my project. I'll use a 15" speaker and I'm calling mine a blackface Twin clone. It will be a great steel amp!

Hey Bill Thanks.

I'm in Taos now, will be sitting in with Bill Hearne at La Fonda in SF tomorrow. Whereabouts are you?

Sounds very cool too me.
I like the MM, but Weber makes good trans too,
and a good bit less.

I have Weber 4-10" in my Bassman
and they sound like the old days for sure.
