i have a pod xt pro that i use all the time and have some programs that i like really well.it is an older version 1.05.,now my problem is: i just bought another one but it is the newer version 3.02,i have loeaded in my favorite programs that i use into it and copied them exactly like they are in my older one but the don't sound the same, they are close but it seems that my older version is cleaner sounding. is the difference in the versions 1.05 vs 3.02 ? and if so how can i get the older version programmed into my new unit? or is this even possible.

The operating system for the pod is on a E-Prom you can take the one out of your older unit get it copied and put it in your new one. Or you can call the guys at line 6 and get them to send you one. They are good about that kind of stuff normally. They might try to talk you into updating the older unit.

OK Lee, here's what I did when using a regular PODxt. Hit the button that says "TUNE SYSTEM".
After it brings up the tuner, go over to the "select" knob and crank it clockwise one notch.
It says on the screen "What are you connected to?"
It should say "Studio Direct". The newer versions change that setting ....so it sounds different.
Use the TWEEK knob to change it back and you'll have your old tones again. Rolling Eyes

Jay's right. We went through this when they did the update and Jay dug up the info on what to do. Even the Line 6 tech's didn't know about the default setting changes.

I stand corrected on the PODXT updates they are done through a Flash Process from your computer. I was thinking old school pod that didn't have the flash capability. So all you need to do is go to the Line 6 Website and to the down load area get the flash file for the OS you want to put in and follow the directions

The procedure to update a POD XT is to use the "Line 6 Monkey" Program, that is a free download. However you also need the applicable Operating System drivers for the POD XT and they must be installed before running the Monkey Program. The Monkey Program will examine the POD XT and determine what version it has and what the current version is and then allow downloading and installing.

thanks for all the reply's i downloaded the monkey but when i tried to install the drivers it took so long (i only have acess to dialup) that after about an hour or more i gave up it seemed to be loading them for a while then it just seemed to stop .needless to say i'm not a computer whiz.maybe i'll be able to find someone close that has high speed and understands this stuff better.when i did have the Monkey up i only saw versaion 3.02 listed and that's what i have already is there a place on there that gives the previous versions?

I don't have Monkey running right now (I'd need to hook up my POD XT) but I think it shows the current version and what version is installed in the unit. However, I think there is an option to install an older version.

But, there is nothing wrong with the current version, as it fixes some things, adds devices such as the 15" speaker option (that is the best for steel), etc. You just have to reset the "type" that Jay mentions.

The Line 6 driver file is smaller than the Monkey file. If you were able to download the Monkey file, you should have no problems downloading the drivers.

Lee...hello... Question
Why are you worried about Monkeys and Drivers? You don't need any of that stuff right now.
Just change the "what are you connected to?" setting on your PODxt. That's about it. Re-read my original post.Rolling Eyes

FWIW...When I upgraded my Pod XT, it changed the way you select/change...After upgrade, you had to turn the select knob to change from A to B,C,etc. The old way you just pressed the A,B,C,D button to change,Liked the old way better. I contacted Line6, they told me how to reset to old version. It may be different now.
