I've been reading about guys taking off extra pedals and some wanting 9 or more. I'm sure a lot have the Franklin pedal. Anyone use a 9th pedal for something else on the E9th, C6th, or some other tuning? I have a Sierra with a 9th pedal and just looking for ideas on what to do with it, if anything. Thanks, Chuck

I learned from Sonny Burnett years ago to Raise String #6 on the C6-Neck (½-tone) from E to F and use it in conjunction with the RKL, which should be Lowering string #3 (½-tone) from C to B. These combinations will give you the effect of the Jerry Byrd 7-str. C-Diatonic Tuning on strings #2 through #6.
Lo to Hi:
6-E/(F), 5-G, 4-A, 3-(B)/C, 2-E

I have that E to F change on a KL that I dearly love!

I like it so much as a K, mostly because I use it so much in conjunction with a pedal that I put between the traditional pedals 7&8 (aka the Boo Wah pedal.)

That pedal lowers the low F to D, and the lowest C to A. Even though it's right next to the boo wah 10th string lower, it really isn't as redundant as you might think. It kind've turns the C6 neck into Curly Chaulker's (and Danny Sneed's) tuning. It allows for way more minor chords, 11th's etc. than you can find on the usual C6.

Same as Crowbear, I have 4 pedals on E9th, with no C6th pulls on the 4th Franklin pedal. My whole C6th setup is moved across one step -- pedals 5 thru 9.
9 pedal, 9 knee setup.

My S-12 was originally a U-12 which came with 7 floor pedals so a few years ago I shipped it back to the factory to have an 8th pedal installed which would be about the same thing as adding a 9th pedal to a D-10. What I did was have a pedal added next to the volume pedal which does nothing but raise the 4th string E to F#. It's my "Mooney" pedal and is used with the right foot. My pedal one is my "Brumley" pedal which raises the 7th string F# to G#. So I guess I have the "West Coast" covered on both ends of my pedal board.........JH in Va.
