I like the poems of Rudyard Kipling
("The soldier's poet"), and I like the way
Sean Connery and Michael Caine speak. Does
anyone know how I might find out if either
one of them ever recorded the poetry of Kipling ?

I know this isn't "Music" but hey, it's close.

A cursory look says "no", but maybe this will be close enough. (Ralph Fiennes has an English accent, but not as thick as Caine's cockney lilt or Connery's Scottish brogue.)

Don't know about the poetry, but both Sean Connery and Michael Caine are in John Huston's film of Kipling's story, "The Man Who Would Be King."

Ever see "Zardoz"?

Thanks Donny, I'll check it out.
Archie: hey, Shean sounds just like Sean, to me !
Alan, I know that at least one of Kipling's
poems has been put to music, the title of which is
"The Ladies" ( I learned about women from her),
and yes, I have played it on both Dobro and steel.
Cliff, I did see "The man who would be king".
Excellent movie. Haven't seen "Zardoz" though.

Don't forget Kipling's "The Jungle Book" which was turned into a movie by Disney. Not much original poetry there but some outstanding performances by Louis Prima (I wanna be like you, etc.) Very Happy

Yes, Zardoz is a really weird movie. I still have no clue as to what it's ACTUALLY supposed to be about.
"I bring death as a gift" >?<... wha? Maybe I need to watch it twenty more times before I do get a clue.
"Zed came in the stone head..." Ohhh-Kayyy...
And that's a great one, about "maybe he'll play them on pedal steel!" yuk yuk.

Yea, he certainly broke away from the Bond mold with that one. At least a young Charlotte Rampling is in it.....she makes sense Smile

That movie came out during the peak of disco music: check out Sean's Zardoz costume. Replace the pistol with a Martini.......sweet!:
"The Man Who Would Be............Queen?"

Arch you are a screem. I'm not too sure about Kipling though, the road to Mandelay he wrote about is really a river. Probably too much Mekong whisky. Rolling Eyes
