Taking cell phones would be very difficult. It's easier to give someone the boot after the fact. If someone violates after adequate signage and announcements, they deserve what they get.

Are still pictures still allowed at the ISGC? I haven't been since 1981, and I took a bunch of pics with my 35mm SLR. As was pointed out above, so many digital cameras will take video clips, so it's hard to tell what someone is doing, unless they are spotted holding a camera in the air for the entire duration of a song (a clue, for sure).

Tony - I sure hope so. :)

Still pictures, standing still...OK, I get it. I'm slow, but I usually arrive.

Seriously though, Scotty and Bill surely have a problem to contend with. Maybe they need to go down to the gym and hire some of those muscled up security goons that I see at concerts, and they can bounce the video offenders right out the door.

Tony, you can't take part of the text from my post and tear it apart.
You must read the entire text and don't read between the line.

No plans are being made to restrict cell phones or camera's.
But you should understand about the video taping. I know of no venues that allow video taping and a large majority do not even allow still cameras.

I think Scotty has been very generous in allowing me to post some of the video we made over the years. I would not like for anything or anyone to say or do something that would cause the plug to be pulled.

I know for a fact that these videos have been viewed by people that don't even know what a steel guitar is, and they like it.

So as far as I am concerned, this subject is closed.
Thanks my friend,
Bill

Bill, if a person is going to make statements then there is the right to ask questions pertaining to the statements or parts of the statements. I wrote a statement and you questioned me did you not ? The video's that come from Scotty's are excellent and we all appreciate them , they are part of a bigger picture, they are not the only part of the picture. There are numerous players posting clips both educational and for entertainment which we all enjoy.

When statements are made regarding "policing" a show, even in jest, then levity must be made of it. Nobody wants to attend any show and adhere to strict policing policies with regard to electronics, that would be a deal killer in my view. Even suggesting it is dangerous ground.

Scotty's policy is a good one and recognized, " no video", everyone understands. If someone violates this policy let the wrath fall on them alone. I also suspect that anyone posting a video that they made at Scotty's is not doing it for any other reason than excitement and the joy of it all. There is no personal gain, they are sharing there excitement. Perhaps a less invasive public discussion regarding those folks and maybe just a PM to whoever they are would end all controversy. They are not criminals, they are fans of Steel guitar. They are our friends. We do not want to ban them from a Convention for an oversight. Make Love not War ! 8)
