My Father, Alton J. Braun died last week at 82. A long time steel player, he served in Korea where he formed a band "The Grand Seoul Opry" to entertain the local troops.. He returned to Gainesville, FL where he attended the U of F and played football for the Gators and formed the Suwannee Rhythm Boys with his best friend Tom Murphy. He is survived by his wife Vicki, and a boatload of family I won't bore you with here!
He delighted in playing any form of steel guitar, from dobros to sho buds, as well as fishing, photography, boating etc.
Dad left me his prized 37 Ric B7 which I intend to start my own steel journey on, and will be joining the forum as soon as I return home Sunday after the service on Saturday the 14th.
I know my Dad enjoyed this forum immensely, and I look forward to continuing participating and look forward to the musical journey.
Please keep Al and his wife in your prayers.
Regards,
Hal Braun

I'm so sorry to hear this, Hal. Your Dad was a member of this forum for over ten years, and an active participant for much of that time. We'll miss him.
My condolences to you and your family.

Hal,
I am so sorry for your loss, and I pray that your family's grief will soon turn to a celebration of your father's life.
How awesome that you will follow in Al's footsteps and play his beloved instrument!!
God bless,
Donna Dodd

Hal:
I was sorry to hear of your dads passing. I met him a couple of times at our mutual friend Tom Murphys home.
I have heard many stories about the band him and Tom formed back in the old days.He was a fine picker and a gentleman. It don't get much better than that. I hope you can find some comfort playing the old Rick.
