Case for Rickenbacher B6?

Post by Mike Bonnice »

What are the options for a hard-shell case for a Rickenbacher B6 (or model 59 or NS or ...)? Are there any cases that fit off-the-shelf? Can I get some sort of customizable case? Do I need to hire someone to make a custom case?

Rickenbacher guitar cases

I've heard rumors, unverified, that a hardshell Viola case will work....... Never confirmed it tho'.

I also purchased a Rick that came in a Fender tweed
stratocaster case? It fit..........and it was new.

Might work for you.

Also check into baritone ukulele cases. While not as totally protective as a hard case, it my be quite sufficient for your needs. Some minor mods may be needed to allow the neck to sit lower than a uke would.
And, it'll probably be easier on the wallet.

I've read that a B6 will fit in a Gold Tone lap steel case with just a couple inches left over. It's a hardshell rectangular case.

I got a gun (shotgun) case with the foam un-cut.
Then traced and cut the foam to fit
Case was $40 on sale.
It's hardshell, plastic, pretty good, cheesy imbossed picture of a dog chasing a pheasant on the lid :)

There are a number of case mfg. that sell gun cases, and other cases of all sizes,
like SKB cases for example.

I don't remember the B dimensions, but here's one
SKB that might work?

I've ordered a case from Kevin Hatton. I sent him a template with some measured dimensions. It'll be done in a few weeks, I'll post an update at that time.

Cases for B6

Post by James Williamson »

I got a Hatton case for mine and couldn't be happier...he did a great job...if you get a baritone Ukelele case it'll work but will need to be reworked in the padding to make a snug fit on the contours.

The shotgun case would be great but the show is ok in length (about 31" is perfect) but the width at 9" is not enough...you need at least 10"...and the depth is marginal at 4" (should be 4.5" or better).

There another shotgun case on the same sight that might possibly work or else there's lots of site out there.

Good Luck

I received the case by Kevin Hatton. It's strong, secure, and looks good. Here's a picture:

That's a mighty beautiful looking case.......

Great choice for colored interior........goes great with your black and silver theme.

APPROXIMATELY, what did a case like 'that' cost you?
