Thanks for the info Andy. A friend and I may be able to make it Saturday. We didn't know whether to have lunch on the way or not. Mr. Tommy Oliver sent me exact directions from the Shoals, so if we get over to Fulton, shouldn't have any problems.. By chance will anyone be playing one of those beautiful carribbean blue MSA's ?? And will I get to hear TROUBADOR by George Strait ?

R.J.it's about 3 hours from Meridian.Take US45 from Meridian. When you get to Brooksville, veer to the left on US45 alternate. At Tupelo take US78 east to Fulton exit.Exit here and take a left and go over the bridge to the first traffic light.Take a left at the light and follow this road through the industrial park and you'll see the Tombigbee Jamboree on your right.Hope to see you there!

hi
I love this area why did you not do this when I lived in Tupelo for 3 years, 1952, 1955, PBI bible school, if it was a little closer I would be there with bells on, have a good one and do one for me.

Katie, if it's like it usually is, the charge will only be $3.00 per person, and $5.00 per couple. The "big" show in April has a higher cover charge though, due to the higher costs associated with having to pay the professional players who come to that one.
Andy, sounds like you've got the directions remembered perfectly!
Ernie, wish you could make one of the shows sometime. I wasn't even remotely thought about during the years you lived in this area, so I certainly couldn't have had a hand in having a steel show back then!
I hope you can make it up to one sometime. I believe you'd really enjoy yourself, and I know you'd be made to feel welcome.

Yes Tommy, anyone who missed the jam Saturday night in Fulton missed a fantastic evening of entertainment ! My friend Carol and I had a blast visiting with Tommy and Sherron Oliver, meeting forum members, and enjoying the awesome band. Of course, my favorite part of the show was having all the steelers on stage at the same time ! I absolutely luved it !

I am so sorry I could not make it. I really wanted to be there but had a pressing ministry duty which is my first call. Jim really rubbed it in about how much fun everybody had. This show is always one of the best and friendliest with many wonderful people and players. Planning for April already.

Doc, you were surely missed. I hope to see you at the next one, Lord willing.
It was a good show, with a good turnout. The brands of steels that were played were:
Zumsteel - Odell Burgess
Rains - Jim Parker
Mullen - Danny Lyles
Carter Starter - Jay French
Emmons - Tommy Oliver
Mullen - Michael Matthews
Sho~Bud LDG - Me
Tommy Young, of Max-Tone Mod's had on display the red metalflake Mullen that he recently refinished, which had pics posted here on the forum in another thread. To say it was beautiful is an understatement. It was stunning, and the pics that have been posted do not even start to do it justice. Tommy Oliver played this guitar during the roundtable jam, and it sounds every bit as good as it looks!

Thanks Lem,
I sure missed all of you. You had a bunch of good pickers. I love your Shobud LDG. You are right that Red Flaked Guitar of Tommy's is the prettiest I've ever seen. And sounds fantastic too.I will make April if I can. I started to drive up about 6:30. I wouldn't have gotten there til 8:30 and then have to come right back. It was an almost.
Thanks for all the info on players and steels.
Blessings to all the gang,
Doc
