Don't have what was posted before or what is current. Doug's C6th Chord Manual has the following. Preview showed the ascii text as all bunched together. Tried html code with no better luck. Tried converting to a PDF file and found you can't upload PDF files. I'm fairly computer literate but more of an ascii or html kind of guy. Finally had to go to my wifes computer which has the Adobe suite to make a jpg from the text. If anyone can give me pointers about ascii text in posts here I'd appreciate it. Anyway this is what I've got.

It's real easy to post copedents using the tab functions in UBB code. When you post, look under the emoticons to the left and there will be a link to BBcode. This is a help file that explains a lot.

Using Roger's info and assuming since he uses a G string on string 1, that pedal 5 raises that string as was standard.

After reading Richard's post, I decided to try once again (in the Forum "Testing" section) to post a copedent chart, following the instructions he directed to, and lo and behold, with some modification (see below), it worked!

Under the Emoticons on the left of the screen when you're typing a post, it says "Options", and under that it says "BBCode is ON". (At least that's what it says on my computer--if yours said "OFF" instead I don't know what that would mean!)

"BBCode" is an underlined link. Click on that and it takes you to a Forum help page with various sections. Scroll down and there's one about "Outputting Text With Spaces". It's there that there are instructions for posting things like copedent charts. Unfortunately, it is stated using computer language that, like you, I don't understand.

BUT--My successful foray was accomplished by a simpler procedure than seemed to be suggested there. In the help section it suggests using Notepad to "format" the chart. To show you MY level of computer ignorance, I had to get out my "PCs For Dummies" book to find out how to open Notepad. But when I did that and tried to do as suggested, a couple of different ways, it didn't work at all! The result was a hopelessly jumbled chart, as always before. So I tried bypassing the Notepad step, and that's what worked.

HERE'S HOW I SUCCESSFULLY POSTED A COPEDENT CHART:

1)Type "tab" (not including the quotation marks) between brackets [ ], then hit Enter to go to a new line

2) Type in the Headings (String, LKL, LKR, etc.) for columns, leaving desired space between

3) Hit Enter to get to a new line and type the 1st string's note and gauge, if desired, then put any changes on that string under their appropriate headings, by using the space bar, or dots, as Richard did, to advance left to right and type in each raise or lower in its column

4) Repeat step 3 for the rest of the strings and their changes, always beginning with the open string note and using space bar or dots to line up the changes in their columns working left to right

5) After the last string's line, hit Enter for new line, and type "/tab" (again, minus the quotation marks) between brackets [ ].

Steps 1 and 5, and getting to the columns in steps 3 and 4 by advancing left to right by space bar or dots, are critical!

This did it for me! Very Happy

*NOTE* In step two, you can simply space bar over to where the first lever column should be, instead of typing "String".

That's exactly how I do it. Very easy. Same as typing in any word processor, You just need to add the tab tags which prints to the screen exactly how you type in the info.. Took less than 5 minutes.
