its an awsome looking steel its black and white

it also has the original tweed hard shell case
if anyone of you Non pedelers has any info on this thing or a web site that might explain some yrs they were made would be helpful

http://www.provide.net/~cfh/national.html#valco lists the serial numbers used by Valco for National, Supro, English, etc. steel guitars they made. The guitar in question would have been made in 1955 according to that chart.

Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars has some information, and Michael Lee Allen has posted a number of different National catalog pages on this forum.

Do you have any pictures to share?

Hey Boo, from the serial # it's a 1955 model.
http://www.provide.net/~cfh/national.html#valco

The Vintage Guitar price guide values them at $1,100, but that's relative - to availability, condition etc.
Those are great guitars - congratulations!

Can you post some pics??

Al, congrats on you National. That looks a lot like my old '52 Grand Console except your pickup and peghead covers are black and mine are cream colored! Nice guitar!....Here's a shot of mine...JH in Va.

I just have to get one of those, my Tiesco is a bit lonely on its own.

Here is my '52 National. I did some modifications such as replacing tuner knobs that were disintegrated. I switched the selector knobs to accent the newer tuners.

I added a four leg kit and use this as a back up guitar. These nationals have great tone!

If you lived a little closer to me and if you wanted a serious restoration project, I know where there is a National Triple 8 in dreadful and unuseable shape.
