Hey Steve, I'm doin' great. I'm now at my ninth year on steel guitar-I started on Christmas Day of 1999 when I was eighteen. I'm now playin' shows and lovin' it. My current steel guitar is a GFI Ultra D-10.

It's great to hear from you. I'm delighted to hear you're having so much fun playing steel guitar. I'll never get over the first time I heard greats like Lloyd Green and Jay Dee Maness on "Sweetheart of the Rodeo," Tom Brumley on "Together Again," Rusty Young on "Grand Junction" or Buddy Emmons and Sneaky Pete on everything they ever played on. This instrument is really hard to play but the pay-off is huge; it offers limitless means of self-expression.
Keep working at it and enjoying it "Every Step of the Way."
sincerely,
Steve

I think you should know, Steve, that your work with Emmylou certainly inspired me in just the same way.
And I thank you.

Steve, as far as playing music that has moved and inspired people you are definitely in the same league as those other guys. In fact I was just playing Emmy's "Thirteen" in the workshop a while ago at quite a healthy volume while putting a new steel together and grinning mighty big! The Austin City Limits show you did with Emmy will always be one of my favorites. "We worked the road as hard as we could drive her......." Thanks, man.
