This instrument is for sale here in NZ. It has no brand name and was apparently built 30-40 years ago either in Hawaii or the US. The owner claims that these sell for US$2500 on ebay. Can any of you non pedal afficionados shed some light on this for me?

I don't know what steel it is, but I'd suggest you change the thread title to "Help identifying vintage steel" - that usually draws a lot of attention.. Wink

Ditto what Steinar says.

I would show more pictures. Front view and close ups will help.

I've changed the title of the discussion as suggested.

It's impossible to say what brand of dual eight string steel is shown based on a picture of the end of the guitar, but I would doubt that such an instrument would sell for $2500. The seller is confusing the issue by making such a claim.

Please do a search on eBay for previous steel guitar sales (check the box on the left column for completed sales) and you'll see quite a few that were OFFERED for sale for $2500, but very few that actually SOLD for that price.

I agree Brad. The owner will not be able to sell this steel here in NZ. Players are few and far between and the value of instruments is well below US prices. As soon as I have more pics I will post them. It will be interesting to try and identify this Steel.
