Rather than hijacking the stomp box eq thread, I thought I would start a new thread on the mod. This is the Monte Allums GE-7 Plus mod for the newer Boss GE-7. I received it in the mail Wednesday and finally got around to installing it yesterday.

I followed Monte's advice and tested the box after each mod (5 phases). It took a couple of hours to set up my soldering station, get a small amp for the testing, and actually desoldering and soldering. There are 18 components in the mod.

At the end I raised the output slider from its neutral position to the max position. Before the mod, I got a lot of noise. Now it is clean and quiet to the top. I didn't like it before because I could only use the cut and not the boost. I would have to say that the box is now eminently usable.

I just sent my GE-7 to an authorized installer for the Monte Allums "Plus" mod. There are actually two different mods for the GE-7. I'll let you know how it performs when it returns.
