I'm just about to finish up the song's in the Winnie Winston book. I'm sure it will take me longer to get all the info disected, but I've started the Advanced Tab section this week and am fixing to need some thing else to keep me progressing. I did order the Up from the top courses. But won't get them till Christmas. (It's a gift from the fam, and they're making me wait.)
I was wanting to try to download some of the instructional stuff off you tube and maybe burn the video's on dvd's so I could watch em on a screen bigger than my lap top. I don't have an account with you tube so maybe that's my hang up, but anyone who has done this before walk me through downloading some a video to my hard drive.
Thanks

Surely someone can help me with this. What about just saving the whole web page to the desktop? would that do it? |

Zach,
I use IE to browse youtube, with the video playing just put the pointer on the viewscreen and then click on the "download this video popup." That will get it on your harddrive, don't know how to get it on a dvd, you may want to post that part in computers section.I'm sure there's a way, I just never bothered to try it. IE is the only one that I've used for youtube downloads that has caused no problems.
Hope this helps...Bill _________________ Bill Ford S12 CLR, S12 Lamar keyless, Misc amps&toys Sharp Covers

I'll try that. I've got dial up so I've never messed with you tube until I started messing with this contraption. I'll let yall know how I turn out tomorrow sometime.
I can get em on DVD once I get them to the hard drive. I Think I'll put a bunch of the lessons together and the related songs together. Mickey and Jeff Newman ought to get me going pretty good. |

Hi
I use Youtubedownloader http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/
It's freeware. First you download the video from you tube, then using the same program you convert the downloaded file before you can view it.

Ronnie,
I use realplayer with no problems.
Stuart,
Does this program convert the file to be viewed on your dvd/tv player?

I set my camera in front of the screen, and record it while playing, then put the SD card in the computer and transfer it to DVD. Not the best quaLITY but it works good enough to practice with, and gives you the sound tracks.

|
|
Here is an email I sent out to my band. Only need to change the selection type from Audio Only to Video. YouTube encodes in FLV, which is a special format for web viewing. If you do download a video without converting it to a windows format you will need an FLV player.
All,
I wanted to share this with you all since I heard someone talking about strange ways to get songs to practice or practice with.
1. Find the song on the Internet. Start with YouTube. Find the version you want and the level of fidelity. Not all are the same.
2. Copy the url from the browser like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EebObs-vC0
3. Go to http://www.vixy.net/
4. In the URL: field. Put in the copied link from above (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EebObs-vC0)
5. Use the drop down menu to choose Audio Only mp3
6. Choose Start wait, retry, wait, retry, etc
7. Once downloaded go and rename it immediately because the name will be crazy.
ENJOY

Bill
The program ultimately converts the file into a Quicktime player file on my computer not DVD format. If you put in a search on the net " Quicktime to DVD" there are freeware programs that can then convert the quicktime file (which is ideal for viewing on the computer) to DVD format for your TV,

Thanks for the help guys. It will prob take all night to download this stuff with my dial up connection, but I'll get there. Good thing I have a cell phone or I'd be unreachable. |

YouTube Downloader works great. It can save the files in just about any video format, or it can convert any video file already on you hardrive to another format. Just copy and paste the url address of the video you want and there you go. You can even close YouTube and it will continue to download the file. Best of all, It's free! Then download VLC media player and you can play them back in their native flv format. Another great free program. _________________ Tele, Strat
