was Lonnie West's lifelong soulmate and she passed away last saturday. I remember when I first arrived in Macon, she was still singing now and then with our band.
Anyone from the Middle Georgia area will remember that dynamic duo of Lonnie West and Buddy Fordham. They are still working at the VFW on Harrison Road and I suppose it is Lonnie's intention to leave this world from the bandstand !! They worked with John Knight and the Night Riders for many a year before John passed away.
Those were good times and I remember them well and especially Betty singing Kitty Wells songs. Those were her favorites and you could tell she loved those lyrics and melodies by the sincerity in her delivery.
Good folks gone home !! Godspeed and Fare Thee well.
