I have an old National D-8 Grand Console. The problem I'm having is that the outside neck is very bright and the inside neck isn't. I think they're supposed to match tone wise, aren't they? Anyone know what might be the cause of this or how to cure it?.........JH in Va.

I have an old English Electronics Tonemaster 2x8 that's almost the same guitar, made by Valco in Chicago. The front neck (thicker wood) is louder and fuller sounding, the back neck (thinner wood) sounds thinner. I raised the individual pickup screw-magnets on the back neck. That helped, but they still have a different tone & timbre. Both pickups go to a rotary selector switch, then to single tone and volume controls, so I think it's a physical difference rather than electronical on my guitar.
