WOW !!!!!!
The closer we get the more the phones are lighting up. Just had to put another post in here to thank everyone for their help and support in getting the word out, especially the forum. We are hoping to fill the hall to capacity this year.
In a reply to Bob Strum today, I made mention that we may have to add Friday nite and Sunday to the schedule next year. TOO much to get into only one day.
We are just a little over a month away and if you haven't made your plans yet, better start now. "BRING BUS LOADS". We got plenty of "FREE" and secure, parking. Gonna be a GOOD-UN !!!!!
Doug Jernigan told me in an e-mail he was gonna send me charts on some new things he was gonna do on the show,,,,,,"SCARES ME TO DEATH".
I've already got Brother John's ice chest ready with another load of shrimp. This year I'm gonna slip another 10 lbs in on him. He just loves gettin them ready for the freezer.

Hey Ben, don't spose you'd wanna make some copies of those Jernigan charts for the rest of us, would you brother????? Ten extra pounds of shrimp for big John may just take his mind off that Mandarin Orange cake for a while so that I can skip out with it, heck, shrimp we've got plenty of around here.

Hey Roy I haven't seen those chart from Doug on the new songs he mentioned. Still "sceered to death". You know how dat boy is. He likes that sneaking up on ya.
Spoke with John today and I tried everyway under the sun to steer him away from that cake but, NO SOAP. I even tried baiting him up with a bass fishing trip. Looks like there is no hope with that.
I'll rattle ole Doug's cage tonight and see if I can get my old grubbly hands on them.
Thanks for the reply and we'll see you soon,,,,,Ah---Ha !!! (In The famous words of Poncho)

Well I am also looking forward to this show. I played it 2 years ago and it was great. Ben does know how to do a first class show, don't miss this one.

Speaking of Doug Jernigan, he is of course one of my all time favorite steel players and one of the best there is. I did a show with him in Columbus, OH this past weekend and he and Gary Adams were both there doing tunes from a new album which was fantastic, so I'm sure he will be doing some of these tunes in Mobile.

I hope to see everyone there.

Hey Herbster, glad you're coming to Mobile. Looking forward to seeing you and Bunny and working with you as always. I guess the last time was in Indianapolis. Maybe you can "kidnap" old Brogdon and have him come down also.
See ya soon,

Hey Herby
I agree with Roy on kidnapping Ben B. Shoot,,,,,,,,I'll even send you the cuffs. Man !!!! Would that be fun or what ???
Roy, I talked to Doug today and he has the charts in the mail. I breathed a sigh of relief when he told me the songs. In other words, I ain't "sceered to death" anymore. I'll get them to you when snail mail delivers.
I also talked to Van Zerkle yesterday and he is gonna make the show. Looks like ole Roy don't have to tote the mail all day this time around.
Gonna mail ya'll some flyers Monday.

Hey Ben - Sounds like the show is takin' off again this year. Looking forward to it,as usual. Include me in on the charts 'please' even the drummer needs to have a little idea of what's going on..HA! Actually a CD of the tunes would be better for me,I make my own personal charts. I'll email Doug for that. You have enough to worry about.PS-Maybe some of that shrimp, toooo!!!

Ben.. I forgot. Is there a table/booth for band members? Some of the house band might just have some items to peddle.

Roy - looking forward to it. I need not say anymore. You know it already...

Herby- Really glad you're coming this year. I always look forward to your part of the show. HOGTIE Ben B.. and bring him along.

See Y'all next month.. Paul and Dee

Man !!!!!!!!This is gettin good !!!! Brother Paul, as I told Roy, Doug is sending me charts and a CD of the things he is gonna do and I'll get them to you.

Yep,,,there will be a table for band members and it is gonna be close to the Hughey table so Ya'll can keep an eye on what goes to his table from the kitchen Re: (CAKE & ETC), if you get my drift.

I also thought it would be good to mention that You, Roy, and the lovely "LADIES" are coming in a day early for a round of golf. Anyone else interested in doing so can either contact me or my cohart, Wayne Goff email; gofff@bellsouth.net and we'll pass the info on to you or you can ask Roy. We have excellent courses here in the Mobile area. And, Mobile of course is the birth place of Mardi Gras and Bellingrath Gardens are absolutely beautiful in July. For the vets coming to the show, the Battleship Alabama Memorial Park is a sight to behold. A day ahead to make that tour is something you will never forget.

Keep them cards and letters coming friends !!!------Ben O'Dell

I'm gonna tell you !! Ole Roy is a crooner now.
Talking about places to go, I just heard from Curtis Gordon in a round about way, and he plans to be here for the show. Although it's not still there, The old Radio Ranch was a real place to go back in the days when you were here in Mobile. Don't have them good places to go anymore.
Reference the Battle Ship Alabama, when the gov decided to cut it up for scrape metal, the citizens of Alabama decided that was the last straw. We took up collections all over the state and brought her home. Don't know if you remember, but, if you gave so much, they would give you an honorary rank.
She is sitting here now forever and it is great to have such a fine park to visit. Give me a call when you get to town and we might get together and go get us a bean samich, or something. Looking forward to seeing you and Mary for the show.---Ben

Hey Ben,
I remember being a small part of the collection part to bring the Battleship Alabama home. Can't wait to see her again. Remembering back when she was firing them big guns out from the Inchon in the Korean war, the sky would turn blood red. It will be great to be home again when so many didn't make it back. We all will have a great time at the show. Thanks to you and Wayne and the other players.

Thanks for all the help guys. Don't know how to thank you enough for all the help you all have come forward with.
As the show here in Mobile was just a dream in 2000, my partner in crime, Wayne Goff, My Brother Hollis, (gone to meet the master), and myself didn't have a clue how to put this thing together. I started making calls to friends and great pickers. They all jumped on the wagon and boom,,,,,,,,here we are 4 years later looking forward to the biggest and bestest one yet.
Lets see if I can explain how I feel somewhat.
I'm fast approaching the ripe old age of 29 and I learned at a very early age from listening to the old battery powered radio, (WHOOPS)I forgot they didn't have battery powered radios you had to listen to on the front porch for just a while cause you couldn't afford batteries, 29 years ago. Well anyway, started pickin at 6 years young and musicians are the greatest people in the world, and in the words of Little Jimmy, (clapping your hands for a Musician is like making love to a widow woman,You just can't over do it).

SO I'm clapping just as hard as I can for the help we've recieved from a host of great friends.-----Ben

Hey Roy !!!!! Thanks for the bump, and I've enjoyed speaking with you VIA emails.

Sorry to hear you can't muster a bus load but, as I told you in the email, a car load is acceptable. You will probably see some old friends here at the show.

We are really excited about the show cause we are answering so much mail and calls. It's gonna be a GOOD-UN.

Just got the final word that John Heinrich will be coming to the show. A SUPER TALENT !!! Getting better every day. Thanks again----------Ben

Hey Ben,
Our old friends

I am so proud he will be on the show. I hope everybody will come early and stay late. Everyone will have a great time.
