This is a beautiful song!

Written and recorded by Michael Nesmith and The
First National Band in 1970.

Someone from Florida suggested I do it....
so I did.

I do it on on C6th six string Lap Steel.

Roy,

I have always thought that tune was made for steel!

As always, fine playing!

Nice song Roy! I saw Nesmith and the First National Band do this when it came out. Red Rhodes was playing steel guitar I think. Been a long time!

Thanks John, Bill.

Bill I learned that from Michael's hit recording
and wondered who played steel on that. I tought
it might have been Jerry Garcia. Confused
Thanks for clarifying.

Roy

Roy, that indeed was Red Rhodes playing steel on that one. I used to love hearing the recording as there was something I really liked about Michael Nesmith's voice...."Her name was Joanne, and she lived in a meadow by a pond"...... Strange words but it was a haunting song. The band I was playing with in SoCal around that time did the tune in our shows, probably five or six nights a week while it was popular.........JH in Va.

Nice job! Great tune. I listened to alot of Michael Nesmiths music when I was first learning. Red Rhodes was an early influence. His solo record "Velvet Hammer in a Cowboy Band" is excellent.
