purchasing an instrument in Europe

Post by Giorgio Robino »

Hi all

I'm looking for an European web shop ( producer / reseller ):
I'm from Italy, and purchasing from USA seem too expensive because shipping cost customs, etc.

I'm interested on a basic (unexpensive) pedal steel mainly, or a lap steel guitar (also second-hand).

I'ts important that the reseller could accept PAYPAL payments.

Thanks for your help

Thanks Billy

Do you know the web site url ?
Important: I need to pay with PAYPAL, possibly avoiding other payment systems

I didn't received these mails; anyway you could suggest them to write me at giorgio.robino@gmail.com

To be sincere, UK is not the optimal country because possible not convenient money exchange from Pounds to Euro, very good for me could be Austria or German, anyway your info are welcome.

[OT] I'm an alpinist .. one day I'll probably come in your mountains ... the mythical Ben Nevis ... ;-)

thanks

Hi again Giorgio,
You should have My message by now,
I am not sure if these Gents use PayPal,however I can vouch for their honesty,I have known them for years and they are both exellent Men.
With regard to the Euro/sterling exchange, You are certainly on a winner at the moment the pound is quite weak.
Perhaps Crowbear(in France)will be able to suggest a dealer closer to Home if You prefer.
I am sure you will be made very welcome if You visit Ben Nevis, the whiskey will help keep You warm.
Best regards

If you want excellent quality instruments, ask WBS Wolfgang Bednarz. He can build you the model you need or maybe with luck he has used instruments in his shop. http://www.wbssteelguitars.com/

you are right! I contacted WBS months ago about their new student mobel but there was two minus factor:
- no paypal payment (only bank-t-bank transaction "psicologically" bad for me...)
- book the instrument was mandatory and it taked two months to wait (if I well remember)

third reason was that the price was OK (better in comparison with the Carter basic model, do you agree ?) but the proposed single-coil pick-up partially convince me ...

BTW, I do not need a super-quality instrument, I don't want a Vintage instrument, but I nedd a clean sound from pick-up because I have to process signal ...

anyway thanks for remind!

really thanks Uwe!
that site is very well done (as usually .de are) with a vast set of products, interesting also the lap-steels ... as that one! :
http://www.thomann.de/ie/tenayo_slider_rd.htm

About the Carter entry-level pedal steel ...
at least i'll probably purchase the carter Starter (if I'll purchase a new instrument), but indeed I'm a bit perplex, that the reason why since two years ago I never purchased a pedal steel: despite my ignorance, I still think this instrument doesn't value the money 1000 eur (!) ... what guys here think about that ?
