Why do country audiences applaud while a guy's playing? Jazz audiences wait 'til he's done.

Actually, I've worked for and seen a lot of country artists prompt the crowd to applaud while somebody's playing a solo. Always thought it was dumb.

But that's a great video anyway.

This one just kills me, there was a thread on this a couple of weeks ago - that is some TONE.

The audience reaction may well be canned, but comes off to me feeling like they're showing appreciation for Buddy. I remember my negative reaction to that kind of applause in the middle of a solo the first time I went to the Opry a very long time ago, but I guess I've just gotten used to that in classic country music.
