Yes it was in Printers Alley in the early 90's and Duane had loaned me that guitar while he was building my new one. We were in a club downstairs called Barbaras and were going over some covers to add to the road show. WC
Don't know where that guitar is today but Jeff S. that worked with Duane might know. It was a wood body guitar with metal necks and was kind of a faded yellowish green color. It also had a big sticker on the keyhead end of the front that was a big X. Duane told me it stood for X perimental. I't played good and had George L's pickups in it I think, either that or Lawrence Pickups. I also played that guitar in the Tim McGraw video for the song "Welcome To The Club" and also used a Marrs "Cat Can" Dobro Simulator on it. WC

| I remember Tim & Alan JAckson from those days. They both used to come up to Delaware and play with a local band. I think Tommy Wayne was in that band.. |

of 1992...played a couple years with him
had a ball ole darrin use to keep me in stiches!!

| reminds me of many a barroom gig i've done with good pickers and an ego-maniac singer! i opened for tim before his big hits and he was doing crap like 'sweet home alabama' which no picker in their right mind wants to do, but everybody in the shallow-minded audience is going crazy!! especially when he stood on top of the twenty foot high speaker tower..!!...wow!! |

Don't forget about those ego-maniac lead guitar players..... I was playing the lead for that tune from atop the speaker pile just a couple weeks ago. If we don't play SHA around here the crowd will lynch us.

Great playing W.C.!!!
I can't believe this guy made it so big... I'm sure you were surprised too. Quite possibly the luckiest man alive.
IMHO, His vocals aren't that great, but I was amazed that his vocals sounded as good as they did. I was surprised because they have so much pitch fixing stuff on his recordings.
His rhytnm guitar playing was so ahead of the beat that he was just about halfway to the next beat. Typical lead vocalist rhythm playing. Man did his life change! |
