CMA Award Show
We were trying to watch the CMA arards show tonight, but finally had to give up. This has nothing to do with country music as I understand it. Kid Rock finally drove me out of the room. Even Alan Jackson didn't have a steel player. Is this the future of country music?

Country? My Ass!
I'd rather be shot in the head than have to sit through one of those commercial radio music talent shows.

Hey,
I noticed the LONG Steel ride on the George strait song as well....did anyone notice that while the Steeler was doing that nice LONG solo that the TV camera guys didn't know what instrument it was they were hearing, because they panned out trying to FIND the SOLOIST...and ended up doing a close up on the ORGAN player.
I agree....wasn't much country happening on this awards show at all....a lot of ROCK music.
Even the Texas or RED DIRT music with it's ROCK-N-ROLL/Garage band influence has STEEL guitar.
I was disappointed....so my wife and I went to COWBOYS in Arlington, TX and heard the house band....really good and my buddy Dave Alexander was picking Pedal Steel there!
GREAT job Dave.
As some of you may know...Junior Knight WAS the Steeler at this local haunt....but he recently resigned.
BIG shoes to fill, but Dave done a great job!

Darn, Shania looked good!
I had to laugh at the camera person who couldn't figure out who, or what instrument was playing the long ride on George's song. Certainly wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.
There were several of the bands that had steelers, and some good steel backup but George's steeler was the only one really featured.
If there was a camera shot closer than 50 feet, on any of the steel players I sure missed it. Guess I missed the "Country Music" that the show was named after also. RIP Country Music.
But as Kyle said, "Dxxx, Shania Looked Good".

I new it was gonna be a bad night when Kelly Pickle came out dressed like some tramp that should have been walkin Sunset Boulevard. That noise that was coming out of her mouth was anything but country.
Was glad to see George Strait get the awards that he received.
Thanks to the CMA for their continued failure to know what country music is.

I agree with everything said above. We all know where country has gone and is going. Just listen to Sugerland with VonJovi and Taylor Swift with her regular group and the writing is on the wall.

I agree with all that Crap Music Award - rapping Kid Rock was the worst for me too - he proves that you simply can not through some country sounding words or phrases and it's country.
The Sound mix was so bad that when most bands were playing you could not pick who was even playing.
I commented that the camera person could not find the steel guitar but more than likely would not know one if we dropped it on him.
Enough for me toooooooooooo

Country?
When I turned the CMA Awards show on, Kid Rock was finishing up his song. Kid Rock? Country?
Lady Antebellum......Country?
Has anyone seen or heard Lady Antebellum? Great harmony, FleetWood Mackish sort of music, but NO NO NO....not country. My wife laughs at me when I tell her how good Rascal Flatts and Lady Antebellum are, but still not country. Eddie Arnold stirred up the country world with an orchestra backing, but this is ridiculous. Just call the country music today easy rock and be done with it.

Hey Theresa,
Hope all is well with you today.
I thought that might be the case with a lot of the music...but the twin guitar thing with Brad and Keith and some of vocalist being flat threw me off....
I thought Alan Jackson's band was LIVE...because of the guitar picker...but I could be wrong.
Theresa....I haven't heard anything about Brian Franklin in a few years...what is HE up too these days?
I seen him set in with Jason Sellers a few years ago and gave him some guitar cables when a couple of his WENT BAD during the concert.
