Darrell,
You may want to talk to a machine shop about repairing, or making a new end plate. The other problem is, you will have to refinish both endplates to match.

Thanks Bill,
I have finally after much prep work, removed the end piece myself. I didn't have to derod or anything.
As far as the finish I believe I can come up with that fairly easily. I was in the furniture refinishing business for several years. The wrinkle may be a bit of a challenge but as long as it plays I am not too concerned if both ends match exactly. I am just a beginner (Dec 2007) so when I get good (20-30 years from now) maybe I can afford a Sho Bud or Emmons. LOL
Thanks
Darrell
