It definitely sounds like this show is the place to be on the 7th and 8th. Looking forward to coming down and listening to several of the folks scheduled to perform. Some I've heard before, but many new ones that I'm looking forward to hearing for the first time.

Anybody going to be videoing this, Billy? I'd love to be able to purchase a copy if they are.

I'm looking forward to this show next Saturday, but unfortunately, I'll only be able to stay for two or three hours. My band is working Saturday night around Baton Rouge. We played the B.R. State fair last night had a great time, too. Looking forward to seeing some of my dearest friends there, also. HAL

Come on down Lem, be glad to have you. Bring the Bud. Yes on the videos and recorders. William Carroll from Hazelhurst, MS. will be making videos of the shows. He'll be glad to make you a copy, I'm sure. I hope ole JP can hang with Doc! Tommy, bring us a modded guitar and make some more believers. The house will be full of steel players from everywhere. Hal will be showcasing one of the finest guitars available, RAINS. Here's the menu that'll be available for lunch and in the evening on both days: Lunch - chicken strips or hamburger with potatoe salad, beans, bread, beverage of choice. Evening - hamburgers, hot dogs, chili fries and nachoes with cheese, beverage also. American Legion in Laurel is rolling out the red carpet treatment everybody that comes. This may be MSP's home for future events and shows, if this one is a good one, which from all indications, it should be. Hope we have enough room!

MSP Friday show

Post by Billy Carr »

Our Friday show was a good one. We featured a lot of local talent from 2pm till 11pm. Turnout was pretty good also. Most of the crowd stayed through the entire show. Gordon Dodson, Winston Street, Jack Goodson and myself covered the steel end. Today(Sat.) the show is for the BIG BOYS. Hal Higgins opens at 2pm and from there, it's non-stop till 11pm tonight. Plenty of fun and pickin'. Everybody's invited.

billy carr and entire msp staff;
kudzu kudo's for all ya'll that put this together and held it on the track, ...for 2 days.
what a great show it was.
a great line-up of players with no down time and most 'specially no arguments among 'em.
the staff band was top of the line, no wonder the steelers played so good, they could close their eyes, relax and put it on auto pilot.
thanxx for inviting me in on a part of the action.

What a great time I had at this MSP Show. I'm so glad I got to go. First class all the way. Billy Carr did a great job keeping everything running smoothly. I only wish I could have stayed for the whole day on the 8th. Thanks Billy for the invitation to come up, and thanks for meeting me and leading me in (I get lost easily, lol). Tommy....thanks for the new seat...it sits really good....my back didn't hurt me at all last night after playing for 3+ hours.....the color matches up with my Rains really good, too. Please let me know when the next one comes along........Bill Stafford: It's always an honor to be associated with such a fine gentleman.....you are, in my estimation, a top shelf picker, and gentleman....I'm so glad that you are my friend. Buck Grantham.....my neighbor here in Denahm Springs, along with Mitzi....are two of the finest people I've ever met....thanks Buck for playing for me on How Great Thou Art.....the band was superb.....thanks for making me sound good. Bobby Saxton is "the man" when it comes to playing guitar.....wow, wow, wow.......thanks again to all.

Miss Show

Post by Doc Rickles »

When I arrived Hal Higgens was starting a great day,Thanks Hal also for "How Great Thou Art". You can always count on The Miss people to have a great turnout. Great place to have the show and food was delicious and very reasonble Thanks to all who sang and played . The people are so appreciative and complimentary. We had some of the greatest and smoothest players any where., Bill Stafford is in a class all by himself, no wonder they call him Mr Smooth.Buck Grantham, fantastic, anyone who can play Ghost Riders in the Sky at a steel show and make it a hit is a genius. Jack Goodson sounding better than ever on steel and fiddle and now he's got a cute little girl singer. Steve Sanford blew me away on the Blue S 12
Excel. Lots of Excel's there. Gordon Dodson with his 14 strang. Thanks to all the band, Bob Saxton, and especially thanks to Jim Parker for making me sound good.
It was just a fun filled glorious day.
Blessings to all who put it together. And as Tommy Young said, When's the next one?
Thanks Billy and Linda and all Mississippi Steelers and singers.

It was a very enjoyable show. Good job all around, and so good to see all our good friends again. Buck and Mitzi Grantham seem to be timeless. Mitzi is as sweet and pretty as ever and Buck sounds as great as ever. Thanks for the nice comments, Tommy Young. If you did a mod on Billy Carr's Magnum I'm very impressed, it had an exceptional tone (and an exceptional picker). And Doc is right, Steve Sanford sounded so good I'd like to see a long show featuring just him. Great player. Had a nice lunch with Bill and Betty Stafford. I'm listening to his new CD as I type, it's beautiful. Thanks for having us MSP, I'm looking forward to the next one.
