Thanks Paul, it was a lot of fun coming down there and especially getting to jam with the likes of NC's legendary Clyde Mattocks & Kenny Dail. It was nice hearing Clyde on lead guitar as he's usually doing his top notch work on pedal steel. Clyde's quite a formidable and tasty lead player in addition to 5 string banjo (sorry b0b) and dobro. It was great hearing Kenny D. on his old bakelite again. He gets a very good tone on that old guitar through his Evans amp. I'm glad to see the old phart is finally gaining some weight, he's been skinny as a rail as long as I've known him! I also liked Tim's work on his new GFI keyless guitar, I hadn't got to hear him for awhile. Also, Glenn Lanning on his U-12 Mullen did an outstanding job. Glenn gets better each time I hear him. Also kudos to Jerry Dunbar as always for providing the place to play and offering his great fiddle work.
How 'bout that young dude (Ted Jones) and his mandolin work? If anyone out there hasn't heard "Ted Jones & the Tarheel Boys" you've missed something. Ted's a fine mandolin player and is an expert in the Jesse McReynolds "cross pickin" style of mandolin. They play all over the area so if you hear of them in your town or close by, please check 'em out, you won't regret it.......JH in Va.

Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!

I too want to thank Jerry & Libby for hosting another music session in his garage. A little bluegrass, a lot of country, and much fellowship! Thanks to the fellows who travel from the Tidewater of Virginia just to pick a few hours. Thanks!

I echo all the above comments. This was one of the best jams we have ever had. I would like to say that Garland Abbott and Roger Graves along with Tee Maroney did some great country and blue grass. You just dont get any better than Garland on the bass and Roger on the fiddle. Ilove it when Roger and Jerry do the twin fiddle thing.
kd...and the beat goes on...
