SSSGC (AR) October Meeting

Post by Lynn Carney »

The SSSGC had a great line-up of pedal steelers at the monthly meeting on Sunday. It was especially nice to have Vance and Lila Monday with us. Happy 50th Anniversary to two of our favorite people.

Mrs. Ivan (Zelpha) Ward, it was wonderful as always to see your lovely smile. You have our hearts. We love you forever.

Members in attendance: Vance Monday; Donley Harrington; David Starr; Gerald Sparks; Virgil Pittman; Norma Jean Lucas; Leon Pollick; Larry Garrett; Leroy Hittson; Mrs. Zelpha Ward; Lynn Carney.

Guests included: David's wife Betty Starr and grandson, Brandon Sanders; Vance's wife, Lila Monday; Chad Jones; and Lynn's hubby, Mark.

Lots of great classic country steel accompanied by Leon on fiddle, Norma Jean on bass guitar & vocals, Donley on guitar and vocals and Leroy on drums. Thanks guys and gal. You always add that magic touch.

Can you guess which SSSGC member plays this beautiful Sho-Bud?

Lynn, looks like you all had a great time! Wish I could have been there but I sure enjoyed the fish fry! Its good to see Leon Pollock up and around. He was on the 2nd show that we had down there back in 1995. Overall it looks like a great time was had. Oh, and about the steel, it looks like the one in this picture of me several years ago! >:-)

Glad you all had a good meeting. It's attending the meetings and keeping up those friendships that makes a club great. Keep up the good work guys.

Ray, you are only half right. That is your steel but Vance playing it! We did have a good turn out and it is so nice to have a drummer too! Lynn and hubby Mark was even dancing so it must have been good music.

We missed you Charlie, but certainly understand why you weren't able to join us. God bless your family.

Thanks for your photo, Ray. That's one beautiful guitar.

The lady is correct. See you Friday, Norma Jean.

Now. Guess who's playing these steels:

Thanks for your comment Dana. It's always so nice to hear from you. Norma Jean, I know you know. Nothing gets by you, girl . . . .

Ray, come next month and check out Leon and Leroy. David Starr is back, having a blast with Texas Swing, Milk Cow Blues, and Sally Gooden. I'm surprised you know who's playing that Emmons.

Hi Lynn,
Just wanted to say we had a great time at the meeting Sunday. Wish we could have stayed longer. The show I played at the Methodist church in Bella Vista that evening was great too. It is good to see more interest in the Club and we are looking forward to the next meeting. Vance

Charlie Barnett Has Stroke

Post by Chad Jones »

Just got back from the hospital. Charlie Barnett had a mild stroke last week. They beleive it was triggered by his diabetes. The docs seem to have things under control and he hopes to be home Monday or Tuesday. Keep Charlie in your prayers! Hes anxious to play his steel!

Man,I log on for the first time in a while and here this about Charlie. :( Get well soon bud. I was the guy that was visiting with you in Branson for a spell that knows Virgil Wood (just so you'll knowwhenever you get around to reading this). I'm calling Virgil right now to give him the sad news.

I'm gonna try to get over to the November meeting to see some of this fine music you all put on. I'll try to get my dad to come as well...he would like to visit with Leon I'm sure.
