Adobe has released a Security Bulletin to address multiple security issues in Flash Player. Some of these issues may allow an attacker to conduct clickjacking types of attacks that could enable the camera or microphone through Flash Player. Additional information about clickjacking attacks can be found in a recently posted Current Activity entry.

US-CERT encourages users and administrators to review the Adobe Security Bulletin and upgrade to Flash Player version 10.0.12.36 to help mitigate the risks.

According to what I read on the Win XP news, it's best to first run the Shockwave uninstaller, using the latest uninstaller version (link below) then download and install the latest shockwave player.

Shockwave Uninstaller

Shockwave Player

I've done this on my PC's and on a friends PC this morning.

I just followed the link and the resulting page stated:

Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.12.36

Jack;
The upgrade I listed is not for the Shockwave Player, but for the Flash Player.

OK, tried it again. It takes me to the VR 10 download page, but after downloading it says it VR 9.
Tried it the third time, and now IE will not let me use the active x? OH well. Such is life on the darn cmptrs.

Roy;
Did you reboot after upgrading to FP 10.x? Also, you must close the browser and reopen it. If all else fails you can run a manual upgrade, as follows:

Visit C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil*.exe - where *is a version number, like 10a, and double click on it. The Flash munaul update utility will open and you can download and install the latest version. Hit F5 to refresh the folder view, then reboot, to complete the registering of the new Flash ActiveX Control.
