How about some comment on a Wallace Tru-Tone to replace the George L's E-66 on my LDG? I'm playing through a "mini-maverick" rig (Fender Frontman 25, feeding an Eminence 15--which works pretty well, actually), but I can't seem to find a happy tone medium. Would a move like this be worthwhile, yes, no?

| In My opinion, no question, the answer is yes. This is my opinion only.... Humbucker pickups shave off the high end and the low end and accent the mids, making a more compressed sound. Single coils open up the whole spectrum of tone. Your mileage may vary. But, if you are not happy with your sound, this is an inexpensive way to find out which sound you like best. |

| So well said, Jim Bob. Go with the Truetone, you will like it, probably. 17,500/11,500 tap is a very good winding for shobuds. |

Agreed! I replaced the E-66 on my Derby with a Wallace TrueTone and the tone opened right up. More clarity and string separation on the chords. I haven't had any hum problems except when i tried to put my amp on the right side of the guitar, right next to the pickup.
I don't know what it's wound to--I just told Mr Wallace what guitar I had and left it up to him.

| I think most of your problem is the amp. You'd get far better sound with an amp designed for steel, like the NV-112. |

I replaced my original sho-bud pick-up with E66's, and it went from a 3 to a 10 in the tone department.
I have heard great things about the true tone, i wish i had one just to try. I havent heard that there was an exstreme clarity issue between the two, in saying that, i do prefer a single coil sound, my MSA Classic is killer through a Nashville 400 on a good stage, with a solid drummer.
