Price's for the lefty....

Post by A. J. Schobert »

Every now and then I notice a left handed player wanting to find a steel, I am sure it is tough, but to make it a little more tougher the builders charge more for a lefty?

I honestly never understood this, but I have heard that for a lefty guitar it cost a little more, why? All you are really doing is just flipping things.

By the way I play right.

Get in touch with Mr. Roy Thomas at Pedalmaster guitars. He does not charge extra for lefties. I bought mine from him a few years ago. Fine product and a fine gentleman. Some companies will deal with left-handed steels and others will not.

The problem is that the end plates are different. Most builders don't make or stock lefty end plates. It's a custom part. That's why they charge more, if they make them at all.

Try ordering a left-handed grand piano. :P

Thanks, I am a righty.

Bob I just can't see why the endplates are more custom than if it was designed for a right handed player, especially if they mill their own end plates. I could see if the company had to order endplates in where this may cost $$, but if they make them in shop well it should be the same, only reversed, I looked at a lefty guitar once really that is all it is, just reversed.

There was a dealler in Cincy not to long ago that was charging extra for left-hand 6 string guitars, they claimed that there is alot of extra work that has to go into them (the guitars), so the customer didn't think that was right and contacted the manufacturer and then the manufacurer contacted the dealler and set them straight.

As I said I am a righty but I never understood this problem for lefty.

i have a lefty pedalmaster too... when i ordered it, roy gave me an sd10 body for the same price as the s10 i ordered, because he's out of lefty bodies.

i hope that's temporary, because it doesn't seem like there are a lot of options out there for lefty steelers.

in any case, you should definitely contact him. it's a fine instrument.
