Who is playing around Austin TX May 15th - 20th?
I will be in Austin TX (and maybe San Antonio) from May 15th to May 20th. This is a pleasure trip only so if anybody is playing around town let me know when and where. Ricky Davis? Herb Steiner? others?

Well I don't have anything on the books right now....other than probably the saturday afternoon gig at Continental Club with Redd Volkaert....3:00 till 6:30pm.
I'm sure I'll have some stuff roll in...but that's what I got so far.
Hope to see ya Brad.
Call me anyway when you get to town.

Man you guys are the greatest. I'm creating a little itenerary right now.
Ricky, If I don't get to see you play for some reason maybe I could swing by for a lesson or a look at one those steels you are in the process of 'working your magic on'.
I have a rented car and hotel downtown so I'm wanting to check out as much music as possible(preferrably with steel!).

On the same night Herb Steiner plays with the Cornell Hurd Band at Jovita's he also plays with James Hand at the Saxon Pub from 5:00 to 7:00, The James Gang is a must see/hear. Plenty of time to get to Jovita's afterword as it's only a couple of miles away.
Also, the steel is more prominently featured because of the sparseness of the band compared to Cornell's 10 piece wall of sound.
If you were in town on the 14th you could come to the Carousel Lounge and see the Skyliners with special guest Glenn Suchan on steel then go a couple miles west to see Jim Loessburg play with Levi Mullen.

Guys I could not wait until September.
Arriving the 15th 1 pm but will miss lunch at the Texacalli. Coming back the 20th.
No mother on this trip.
Hoping to see Billie Joe Shaver at Threadgills and support Dale Watson for his unoffical stateside album release.
If anyone has time to give me a lesson get in touch.

WOW! Man it looks like I am going to have a full plate for sure. I hope I can squeeze in the site seeing I want to do in between all the music, food, etc.
Can't wait to see that Marlen Ricky. I am so pleased with mine(purchased with your recomendation I must add).
I was looking into Billy Joe Shaver at Threadgills myself. Maybe I can meet a whole group of forum members on my vacation.

And during the day on Sunday you can head down to Gruene Hall ("The Mother Church of Texas Music")to catch some of the annual Americana Music jam. Not sure of the lineup this year, but I will be there at some point with Jim Lauderdale, most likely in the early afternoon. Last year featured the Derailers, Radney Foster, Cory Morrow, and others I can't recall....(senior moment )

Another awsum trip.
Pete it was an honor to meet you and the Mrs
on Sunday.
James was like a buddy by the evenings end and Jim L bought me a soda at the bar.
Nice to have a quick visit with Dayna at Joveta's
Shaver is a don't miss even with the 90 degree evening.
Alvin Crowe was on a 1966 kick for the late set at the Spoke.
Dale had a nice crowd at the Continental Saturday night but it was a contrast to the 98 release gig I attended at the Broken Spoke.
If you can manage it please support your local bands
