Yeah Casey, gor for it!! Smile The condition of that amp looks amazing, seems like it rarely left the house for gigs. Wonder what tubes that puppy uses?

That's, a pretty weird choice of speaker.
Its a D123, I wonder if its original to the amp.
Jussi, is this amp from about 55?.
Early to mid 50s JBL 12s are D131's, and thats what I thought they would have gone with.
The D123 is a great sounding Hi Fi driver, I use one with a couple of Jensen tweeters and a horn.
All said and done, its very sensitive and wants to see programmed music.
I think Deke told me he melted a couple of them.

Lee. Looking at that serial number, it may be the 3rd one made in 1958. Only a guess, however.

Harvey Gerst, famous JBL speaker designer, swears that the JBL 123 is the very best sounding guitar speaker of any JBL ever. It's a warmer tone than the D120 or D130. I've been interested in trying one for while now. They can be found, but typically they're 16-ohm. If I could find an 8-ohm D123 for a fair price, I'd be tempted to jump on it.

Brad, not to contradict Harvey Gerst, Im sure he has forgotten more than I will ever know.
I would and have used my 8 ohm D123 in a 10 watt practice or recording setting, but I would never take it past that point.
It is an extremely musical speaker and has qualities that are more Altec than JBL (could be the 3''VC).
Believe me I was itching to try it, but after consulting Standel guru's Mark Neil & Tim Maag.
I backed away, I would hate to lose it they are also are un reconable.
Brad have you tried an Altec 417C ??.

I have a pair of 417's in one of the Fender acoustic suspension speaker cabinets, that will change your life...

I was just telling Tim Maag about this amp, and the D123.
Tim says its correct and is the speaker they designate in there early brochures for 12'' models.
