Well I'm getting close to having it finished, and it's turning out better than I could have hoped.

You have done a great job using a gutted Fender frame and body to create a nice looking instrument. |

That's a real nice revival of a near-death steel. Its a good thing you got ahold of it before it became firewood! How about gracing us with a little sound sample of this baby with the new Fountain O'Sound pickup? |

I've never recorded myself playing steel, but I'll give it a whirl. The tone is very piano like. The notes sustain for a nearly a minute when just strumming an open string. The overtones are very present. I have a set of Scotty's C6 non-pedals on it tuned to E7. This is one huge hunk of swamp ash. |

There was one of those for sale a few years back at the local music store, on consignment. It was originally a pedal steel wasn't it? The one I saw was.
Identical finish on it.
